I am writing to formally object to the above planning application for an aggregate recycling facility at Brand’s Lane, Felthorpe. Having reviewed the submitted application in detail, alongside accepted material planning considerations, I believe this development would cause significant and demonstrable harm to the local environment, highway safety, and residential amenity.
- Highway Safety and Traffic Impact
The proposal involves HGV movements to support a 75,000‑tonne annual operational throughput. Brand’s Lane is a rural road not designed for sustained heavy‑vehicle usage.
- Noise, Disturbance & Loss of Amenity
The industrial activities will generate continuous noise, dust, vibrations, and vehicle movements, compromising residential amenity.
- Visual Impact & Character of the Area
The industrialisation of this rural setting will adversely affect the visual character and landscape.
- Environmental Concerns & Biodiversity Impact
The proposal requires biodiversity assessments, and there is concern that local habitats and species will be negatively affected.
- Flood‑Risk and Water Management
The proposed infiltration lagoon raises concerns regarding runoff, contamination, and watercourse impact.
- Smells, Fumes, Dust and Air Quality
Recycling and crushing activities generate dust and fumes which may affect public health.
- Retrospective Nature of the Application
The applicant states work commenced without consent, indicating potential harm already caused.
- Inappropriate Location for Industrial Waste Facility
The scale and nature of the proposal is incompatible with the rural environment and unsuitable for local infrastructure.
Conclusion
For the reasons above, I believe the proposed development would have unacceptable and irreversible negative impacts on the surrounding area, residents, and environment. I therefore respectfully request that this planning application be refused”.
