Felthorpe Parish Council

Norfolk County Council has made a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order affecting Church Lane from its junction with Taverham Road for 70m eastwards  in the Parish of Felthorpe to facilitate patching works, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be on 16^th July 2025, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 27^th August 2025 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.

Alternative route is via: Church Lane, Bilney Lane, The Street, Taverham Road.

The works promoter for this restriction/closure is: Norfolk County Council.

Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Road where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place.

The  notice below gives details of public rights to inspect the accounting records and other documents that relate to the accounts.

You may have noticed our Tommy silhouette was installed this week by the village sign, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day this week.

On Thursday evening the Parish Council’s very own Reverend Wendy Saunders will be carrying out a short blessing of the statue, and giving thanks for all those who served. If you would like to join us please meet at the junction of Taverham Road and The Street at 7pm on the 8th May.

Come along and meet Parish Councillors and Pavilion committee members!

We are delighted to welcome you to join us to informally learn about the parish council and the Pavilion, to chat about the workings of both, and ways in which you may like to assist.

Both the parish council and the pavilion committee are looking for new members to influence and help with the smooth running of each.  Neither are particularly time-consuming, but joining now will ensure that members of both organisations remain as Felthorpe residents, looking after the best interests of the parish long term.

Norfolk County Council has made a  Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (NTRO9469) affecting the Felthorpe Restricted Byway 10 from its junction with Haveringland Road for 120m westwards (the “Restricted Byway A”) and Horsford Restricted Byway 1 from its junction with Haveringland Road for 120m south eastwards (the “Restricted Byway B”) in the Parish of Felthorpe to facilitate construction works of car park and visitor centre and highway improvement works. The Restricted Byway A and B will be temporarily closed/ for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be from 30^th April to 29^th October 2025.

Alternative route will be constructed on site.

The works promoter for this restriction/closure is: Norfolk County Council.

The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works/when the closure/restriction is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 29^th October 2025 without further notice.

If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 6 months from the date the Order is effective.

A person who contravenes, or who uses the Restricted Byway in contravention of the closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.
Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.

In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.

We have organised the annual village litter pick for Sunday 27 April 2025. If you would like to join in and help improve the parish, please meet us at the Pavilion at 10am.  Litter pickers, bin bags etc will be provided, but if you have your own please do bring it.

Become a voice for your community

The commitment is minimal. We meet 5 or 6 times a year on the first Tuesday of the month, for around an hour. Outside of that you will probably commit to another 1-2 hours of work per month, depending on what you choose to get involved in.

You should consider becoming a parish or town councillor if:

• You would like to do something positive for your community
• You would like to spend your time productively
• You can think, listen and act locally

To become a councillor, you must satisfy the following criteria on the day you are co-opted:

• be at least 18 years of age
• be a British citizen, a qualifying citizen of a Commonwealth country, a citizen of the Irish Republic, or a citizen of another member state of the European Union

You must also meet at least one of the four following qualifications on the day you are co-opted:

• be registered as a local government elector for the local authority area in which you are standing
• have occupied as an owner or a tenant any land or premises in the local authority area in which you are standing during the whole of the 12 months before the day you are nominated
• have had your main or only place of work during the last 12 months in the local authority area in which you are standing
• have lived in the local authority area in which you are standing during the whole of the last 12 months
