The Better Broadband Subsidy Scheme.

The government is committed to providing every home and business across the country with access to a basic broadband service. If you can’t get a broadband speed of at least 2MB per second, you could qualify for a subsidised connection worth up to £350 to boost your internet speed.

Norfolk County Council has made  a Temporary Traffic Order affecting  Broad Lane from the junction of School Road for 35m in Swannington because of new electricity connection.

The road will be temporarily closed (except for access) from 9^th January 2017 to 13^th January 2017 for the duration of the works.

Felthorpe have been notified as the alternative route may impact the parish – alternative route is via:School Road, Felthorpe Road, Reepham Road, Broad Lane (Upgate, Felthorpe, Swannington).

 

Norfolk County Council have confirmed that full road closure signage will be placed out on Monday 24th October through Felthorpe, along with diversions signs. The signage will be at the outer edges of the village which should prevent traffic problems caused by vehicles turning in to the road at the roadworks site.   The contractor have stated they will only work on the narrowings during the day, one area at a time.  One site is situated at the Taverham end of The Street layby, the other site is Felthorpe Hall side of the Pavilion on The Street. Residents within the road works areas can get to and from their own premises from one direction or the other.  Outside daytime working hours although the road will be shown as ‘closed’, access for residents can be found through either of the roadworks sites. The contractors will ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum and the road will be opened as soon as possible.

Although this work will cause some inconvenience to all of us, the Parish council ask for your patience whilst these traffic calming measures take place.

1. ROAD CLOSURE ON FIR COVERT AND BEECH AVENUE, TAVERHAM
   Previously advertised work for the resurfacing of A1067 Fakenham Road, Taverham at the junction with Fir Covert Road and Beech Avenue has now been rescheduled for Friday 30 September to co-ordinate with planned works on the Northern Distributor Road. The works will be carried out overnight 7.00 pm to 7.00 am and will take one night to complete including surfacing the remainder of the Fir Covert Road / NDR roundabout

   During the resurfacing works traffic using A1067 Fakenham Road will be controlled by temporary 2 way traffic signals  although it will be necessary to close the junctions with both Fir Covert Road and Beech Avenue to all through traffic.

   Access to properties on Fir Covert Road between Fakenham Road and the new NDR roundabout will be maintained from Fakenham Road.

   Access to businesses and properties will be maintained from one end of the closure at all times but it is inevitable that there will be some disruption.  The County Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

   The work which will cost £31,000 will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community & Environmental Services Department and their contractors.

2.  ROAD NARROWING/TRAFFIC CALMING SCHEME) NOTICE 2016Norfolk County Council propose to install two permanent road narrowing “pinch-points” along the The Street, Felthorpe at the following locations:-(i)        265 metres north-east direction from junction with Taverham Road and;

   (ii)       740 metres north-east direction from junction with  Taverham Road a

   A copy of the plan for these proposals may be inspected at Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, and at the offices of Broadland District Council, Thorpe Lodge, 1 Yarmouth Road, Norwich, NR7 0DU, during normal office hours.

   Written comments regarding the proposals to construct the road narrowings should be received at nplaw, Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2DH, marked for the attention of Mrs H Simmons by the 25^th October 2016.

Road closures on Beech Avenue & Fir Covert Road, Taverham for carriageway resurfacing

Fully signed local diversions for Fir Covert Road and Beech Avenue will be in place for the duration of the overnight closure. Please see attached for details

Norfolk County Council have advised that they are aiming to commence construction of the two build-outs along The Street, starting on 17 October 2016, for a two week duration.

During week one (17th October) they will build one-half of the build-outs at the two locations, under two-way temporary traffic signals.  As the available road width will become reduced, the second half of each of the build-outs will be completed during the second week, w/c 24 October, under temporary road closure. This second week coincides with October half-term week, and therefore will not create disruption to the school bus services which travel along The Street.

Dear Miss Blythe

There may be good news coming for some of your parishioners if they have a private pumping station on their property.

Currently, homeowners have to spend hundreds of pounds every year for electricity running costs, maintenance and repairs to look after these private pumping stations. They may even have been flooded if it’s broken down in the past.

From October 2016, many of these private pumping stations will transfer over to Anglian Water and become our responsibility. We will take over all of the maintenance and the running costs too, saving customers hassle, worry and money.

We’d like to ask for your support in letting local residents know about this, and asking them to get in touch with us if they think they have a private pumping station.

To help customers identify and report the pumping stations easily, we have launched a specialist website: www.spotapumpingstation.co.uk.

We have also produced some posters, which you can download here, that can be published in your parish magazines and newsletters, or placed on your parish noticeboards.
