Norfolk County Council has made a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (NTRO7237) affecting the Taverham Road from its junction with The Street to its junction with Church Lane in the Felthorpe to facilitate footway resurfacing maintenance works.

The road will be temporarily closed (except for access) from 30^th October to 25^th December 2023 for the duration of the works expected to be about 57 days within the period.

Alternative route is via: The Street, Felthorpe Road, Upgate, Reepham Road, Taverham Road (Felthorpe, Attlebridge).

We are delighted to report that the National Lottery Community Fund has given the Parish Council a grant for two of our four new “chatty benches” that you can find around the parish! We hope that you are enjoying using them!

Have you noticed all the new benches around the parish?!

The parish council has replaced the old benches on The Street (outside the Pavilion), the green at the Taverham Road and The Street junction, and the end of Bilney Lane.   A new bench has also be placed on Nash Road / The Street junction next to the bus stop.

We hope these benches will encourage lots of rests and chatter whilst you take walks around our lovely village.

 

Survey works on A1067 Fakenham Road, Broadland Northway/Fakenham Road roundabout, Weston Road, Ringland Lane, and The Broadway

Ferrovial Construction, a contractor working on behalf of Norfolk County Council, intends to carry out survey works on the A1067 Fakenham Road and the Fakenham Road/Broadland Northway roundabout, as well as on three minor roads between the villages of Weston Longville and Ringland, starting later this month. Some short delays to travel and intermittent noise are likely while the surveys are being carried out.

The survey works involve excavating in the highway and associated verge to identify utility services and are being conducted as part of the council’s Norwich Western Link project. The works are due to start on Monday 27 March.

A1067 Fakenham Road and Broadland Northway/Fakenham Road roundabout survey works

From Monday 27 March to Wednesday 29 March, a short section of one lane of the A1067 Fakenham Road near to the Broadland Northway roundabout will be subject to a single lane closure with two way lights to protect workers carrying out the surveys between 8am on 27 March until 5pm on 29 March. Then from Thursday 30 March to Friday 31 March the surveys will be centred on the roundabout that connects Broadland Northway to the A1067 and short sections of the approaches. This will also involve a single lane closure to protect workers carrying out the surveys between 8am on 30 March until 5pm on 31 March. Some short delays are likely.

Weston Road, Ringland Lane and The Broadway survey works

Each of these roads between the villages of Weston Longville and Ringland will be closed to through traffic at different times. Works are scheduled as follows:

• Weston Road closed from 8am on Wednesday 5 April through to 5pm on Thursday 6 April
• Ringland Lane closed from 8am on Tuesday 11 April through to 5pm on Wednesday 12 April
• The Broadway closed from 8am on Thursday 13 April to 5pm on Friday 21 April

The road closures will be in place from 8am on the first day and are due to remain in place for the duration of the surveys, finishing no later than 5pm on the final stated day, however if there is an opportunity to finish the surveys early and remove the road closures sooner, we will endeavour to do so. Access to properties will be maintained and a signed diversion route will be in place throughout the road closures.

The Norwich Western Link is a new 3.9 mile dual carriageway road that would connect the A1270 Broadland Northway to the A47 west of Norwich. As well as improving travel between these two major routes, the new road would tackle traffic congestion and delays on the local road network and in communities, and prevent them from worsening due to planned housing and job growth in Greater Norwich.

The road will be temporarily closed (except for access) from 27th to 31st March 2023 for the duration of the works expected to be about 5 days within the period.

Alternative route is via: Brands Lane, Reepham Road, Taverham Road, The Street, Bilney Lane.

If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date of the Order.

Norfolk County Council are inviting you to have your say on the new County Deal for Norfolk.

This deal, agreed in principle with the government in December, would result in £600 million plus in funding for Norfolk that could unlock opportunities to deliver more jobs, housing and investment, with major powers and funding transferred from Westminster to Norfolk.

They want to hear what you think about the proposed deal and what you feel it means for Norfolk.

The public consultation, launched last week and open until the 20th of March, can be found at www.norfolk.gov.uk/norfolkcountydeal. The consultation asks you for your opinion on the in-principle devolution agreement.

Under the deal, Norfolk would receive a £20 million investment fund every year for 30 years – that’s a total of £600 million in new investment. There would also be specific funding for integrated transport, brownfield development, adult education, and infrastructure, all of which would involve decisions being made locally on how to spend the money in Norfolk.

Completed nominations must be hand delivered (does not need to be the candidate) to the Returning Officer, Broadland District Council / South Norfolk District Council, Horizon Centre (annex), Broadland Business Park, Peachman Way, Norwich, NR7 0WF and can be submitted on any work day from Friday 17 March until 4pm on Tuesday 4 April, 2023 between the hours of 9 am to 4 pm.

*Basic criteria are as follows, but full information is in the attached documents:
•be at least 18 years old
•be a British citizen, an eligible Commonwealth citizen or a citizen of any member state of the European Union, and
• meet at least one of the following four qualifications:
a. You are, and will continue to be, registered as a local government elector for the parish in which you wish to stand from the day of your nomination onwards. See paragraph 1.11 for further information.
b. You have occupied as owner or tenant any land or other premises in the parish area during the whole of the 12 months before the day of your nomination and the day of election. For more details, see paragraph 1.12.
c. Your main or only place of work during the 12 months prior to the day of your nomination and the day of election has been in the parish area. More information is provided in paragraph 1.19.
